Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is hosting an Autumn Retreat themed ‘Departure’. A recent glance in my car mirror inspired the first haiku and two more came after that:

Mirror glance
confirms youth has gone
lines deepen
~
In autumn
I count falling leaves
life is short
~
Summer is
growing and dying
all at once
~

What a lovely series of haiku, Janice, which can be read individually or together. The first one rings true, it’s my birthday soon and the lines are certainly showing more 🙂 The second haiku is contemplative and links to the first – counting lines and counting leaves. The third reminds us that seasons are always in flux.
