When the thermometer plummets to double digits below zero (Celsius) an increase to -8 degrees is warmer weather:
from thirty to eight
a ladder of minuses
climbs to warmer weather
Even when the heat thermostat setting is steady, it feels colder inside:
Arctic cold pierces —
sharp needles puncture walls
of furnace heat
And there are other side effects:
in freezing cold
only moisture melts—
dry skin cracks

It’s true, it never does feel warm, even with the heat blasting. Luckily we’re back to freezing in NYC…(K)

It’s amazing how freezing (32 F) can feel warm..we had a brief stint with a balmy 1 C but it’s getting colder again.

Oh yes…19 degrees and I could take off my gloves! It’s all relative…

The boldest I’ve experienced was-40 F wind chill in North Dakota. Needles, indeed.

Now that was cold! I remember -13 F as a child…they didn’t talk about wind chill then…but my face felt like cardboard when outside.
