    1. I’m afraid I my have been too obscure and the word ‘slip’ of course has a few meanings. The shimmer from black ice reminds me of a rainy February night many years ago when I slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk. I broke my lower leg which I came to suspect as I tried to hobble to my destination and felt growing pain. At this time of year when temperatures vacillate between above and below zero, ice forms and can catch one off guard. Naturally, ever since I have been watchful for the shimmer of ice and for a slippery feeling underfoot.
