    1. Thank you, Annika. We don’t have wolves around here, just a hybrid known as coy wolves. I haven’t heard any sounds from them lately. Sometimes we’ll hear yipping out back…possibly signs of young ones…sometimes the sounds seem like distress or agitation. The haiku alludes to the reductions in wolf populations… the changes over the centuries since people heard howling wolves in January and called its moon ‘wolf moon’.
