My name is Janice.  I started blogging as Ontheland when I moved from Toronto to a rural area near Kingston, Ontario in Canada.  Over time I have found myself writing poetry, mostly in Japanese forms, such as haiku and haibun.  One of my deepest interests is the natural world: the joy of it and how we can look after it better.

  1. I love this poem. I like the comparison of rain and sweat, in that the weather has to do some work and it sweats – plus it evokes the sweat you as the grower put into the plants as well. Just perfect.

    1. Thank you, Claudia…those connections between sweat, tap water and rain are definitely there for me. The heat squeezes the sweat out of me and eventually out of the atmosphere ( hopefully tonight :))
