dancing
flame embraces wick
wax melts to vapour

distant owl calls
nearby, high voices chatter
the match has been struck!

Sometimes poems will come while listening to music. This time I wrote after reading a poem by Rumi…the first lines are: ‘The flute weeps, to the pacing drum’. For the full text of Rumi’s poem please visit Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

Music can be a great source of inspiration.

Yes and this poem of Rumi, even though made of words, affected me in a similar way (a music way if that makes any sense 🙂

I have noticed that when there is a candle lit (or I have the fire in the hearth) and music is going that I can easily imagine the flames keeping time… or maybe I am just mesmerized twice over by flame and music?
The flute has a unique voice. Like spring rains.

Flames are mesmerizing…I can well imagine that rhythm thing happening…sound waves, flames, mind interacting…
