on the wind
wilted petals float away
sleeping bulb remains

all that’s left
crinkled brown scuttling
over the lawn

certainty
in nature’s mirror –
transience

words moving my pen
forward and back
looking for wisdom

Love this haiku sequence. You’ve blended the transience of life and our perpetual search for meaning so beautifully.

Thanks Janice. This brought back memories of my dad, his favourite quote from the Rubaiyat, which he read often.

That’s touching to know Jane…a beautiful work to read often and I particularly love the last line in this one: “I came like water and like wind I go”

My dad claimed to have given up reading new books. There were so many old favourites he wanted to reread.

There was a time when books were harder to come by and more like treasures. There is a sort of romance in having a collection to savour and not craving for more. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the range of reading options…

I resent the time wasted on reading bad books. The only way to avoid it is to read the classics. I might be missing out on some modern gems, but I’d rather let other people waste their time picking them out. 🙂

Time is limited and valuable…I’ve found books that have received a recent award or been on a short list…quite rewarding.

I have too. Books that win or are shortlisted for some awards are worth reading.
