In between time

In autumn, a week before we turn clocks back an hour, evening light is brief. Working outside I face blinding rays of setting sun.  Finally, after the sun sinks below the horizon, there is a pleasant surprise.

Best evening light

when sun has finally set

slow fade to darkness

  1. Lovely poem Janice. I do so agree about this twilight, my mother had a beautiful word for it but it doesn’t translate too well – silent dark – . She often lit a candle and we sat talking quietly until dark fell.

    1. Sounds beautiful Miriam. I have spent so many years in the city with no yard or balcony … now in the country and with more time to be outside I love tuning in to these simple pleasures.
