A curb is less forgiving than a painted line,
A puddle more yielding than a bank of ice.
The border between inertia and enthusiasm may melt in seconds.
Concrete reality and states of mind blend as when
spinning wheels find traction, a heart remembers how to breathe,
and a line separating nothing from something dissolves.

I can so much relate to the curb… you learn quickly on a bicycle

I especially like the line:
‘spinning wheels find traction, a heart remembers how to breathe’,
Although, once I used to ride a bike so carelessly, now I wobble, in fear of passing cars!

I like that last line especially, how it manages to describe the indescribable. Nice!

I like the metaphor of that thin separation between borders…sometimes we just need a little push to see the world from the other side ~

Some borders are certainly more forgiving than others.

Fantastic — one of my favorite reads in the series. loved the mix of abstraction and image.

There is a lot more imagery in this brilliant poem than a curb, great artistry Janice.
