and rest on my window.
I peer at your insect features
framed by wooden deck and field.
I wonder if you look
inside—what do you see
beyond the glass? a human nest,
dappled shades of light, or
undivided infinite?

Nice write! I like ‘framed by wooden deck and field’. It requires the eyes to look beyond the moth and take in everything around it.

I wonder what wild things make of our ‘nests’. They tend not to get involved.

I often wonder that…our nests and tunnelling is quite extensive.

Such a wonderful photo for the prompt! And I find myself, because of your skillfully writ words, looking carefully at the moth, and then out the window to what lies beyond. Your words direct my eye. I especially like how you “enter” into the moth’s being by your questions. Great response to the prompt! Thank you for posting .

Who is looking in? I like the framing of the poem Janice. Lovely shot of that moth.

I like the perspective of this poem. It makes me want to ask of you to write from the moth’s point of view. I’m just mean that way! 🙂

Very fun dialogue with that moth. I’m glad I’m not the only one who talks to critters and wonders what their perceptions are. Beautiful yard, there.

Lovely poem and photo, Janice! How did you manage to capture the moth – whenever I try to photograph a butterfly or moth, they fly away!
I love the thought behind the lines:
‘I peer at your insect features
framed by wooden deck and field.
I wonder if you look
inside …’

Thank you Kim. My window moth visitors are quite docile…perhaps they meditate. I have taken photos from inside and outside the house and they barely wiggle a leg.

Clearly a joy for you to meditate on the moth as it meditates upon your window. Love this, Janice!

Ah, I like the question about what the moth sees inside. What would others think when they see our window? Perhaps, interesting enough for a moth to find its way in. 🙂

Yes there are more adventurous types who like to come inside 😉

I do enjoy the contrast of the moth against the outdoor world – inviting one to look farther out. Moths are so very cool. this is a great pic but even better poem.
