    1. I love your read of this … hard to believe perhaps but I wasn’t consciously thinking the environmental angle…waterbanks and roadways can be bleak sites of human debris especially after snowmelt.


      1. It’s true, most of the stuff stays on the bank, but if there are storms as well as high tides, you get all sorts of rubbish floating down the river. A sort of parading of dirty linen in public.

      2. All the major waterways are polluted to an extent, we just don’t always see it. Look for what lives in them. All the stuff that farmers spray on their crops ends up in the water system, and the Roundup that people spread willy nilly over every little weed in their gardens;
