Sudden blizzard
unleashes ghostly breath
misting in deathly white
hurling frozen fistfuls
to angry winds
until new day dawns
a fresh crystal blanket
christening
each tree, each post
wedding white
burying all remains—
not lost, just waiting
to be uncovered
by wind and sun.

I liked how the blizzard made everything “wedding white” with its “ghostly breath”.

Thank you 🙂 fog, mists, blasts of cold and ghosts seem to go together well (hats off to the prompt :))

The blizzard leaves it all so lovely… I love winter when it’s good… and being inside when it draws the ghostly breath,

That is a chilly Quadrille, Janice, with pictures to match! You’ve described a real winter, a satisfying winter – and I love the lines:
‘Sudden blizzard
unleashes ghostly breath’
and
‘hurling frozen fistfuls
to angry winds’.

Finely drawn images of a snowstorm. So lovely to be warm inside and looking out at a “fresh crystal blanket”!

Yes that’s one of my favourite parts: looking out…also I do enjoy myself outside when the wind is down and the sun is shining.

I love all the references to life stages. Even the afterlife.

I love your reading. I started writing within recent experiences but as I wrote could feel the pull of life cycles and cycles in human history.

Yes, I could feel that. And I love it that you went from the particular to the larger picture.

Although I don’t like snow, your poem described it in such beautiful words. Well done. 🙂

So it goes day in day out within its own domain until the change of a new season in due course
