WhimsyGizmo provided a Tuesday dVerse Poets Pub prompt that got me writing about today’s freezing rain. Under the heading ‘Muse Mixology’ she invited us to incorporate pub and drinking terms into poems on other topics. For those in warmer climates, the windshield wipers in the first poem are raised to prevent them from freezing to the windshield. This works unless a high wind snaps them off…I’ll let you find the words related to drinking.
The words lend themselves perfectly here. Wonderful, Janice.
I love that you snuck “w(h)ine” in there, too. 😉

Would be nice to have photos but I’d need better equipment and the skill to use it unfortunately…ice is subtle…and these observations are ‘hot off the press’…the rain and ice rain started in late afternoon and developed its multi variations such as smooth frozen snow, marble glazed car windows and jewel crushed ice snow (to name a few) into the night.

Hi again Denis 🙂 After saying all that I am realizing that you probably meant to say ‘no need’ instead of ‘now need’…..

No problem 🙂 it is slippery… may have to get out my spiked ice shoes to slip on my boots.

That final pun made me smile. And the whole thing made me shiver. I could feel the cold.

Though treacherous and inconvenient, ice can be quite amazing.

Great imagery, Janice! All the haiku are wonderfully descriptive. I grew up in NYC but have been living in south Florida for many years. I had forgotten what it was like but you did a great job of showing me. Well done.

We had similar weather here in Northern Ontario. The types of precipitation changing so quickly within a short period of time, but unlike you we got snow on top of that. You described your weather situation well. 🙂
