The scallop shell symbol of St James Way is laden with myth and meaning. Shells are worn and offered.  Stylized shell symbols appear on maps and trail markers:

  1. A very poetical image, with the fan opening to the shell with its sea-song. I got this sensation of wideness, to be wide-open and ready for a new experience with this journey.
