Afternoon drive home,
Golden rays slant long shadows,
Cool breeze, mellow song,
Sweet moment of alchemy
heralds summer’s destiny.
∼
As the title suggests, I have tried to capture a moment that I experienced on the way home yesterday afternoon. Besides the ingredients mentioned in the tanka poem, the prompt words for Ronovan’s Haiku Challenge #114 were hanging out at the back of my mind. This week I have used synonyms, an option in this challenge that has opened my awareness of the multiple meanings of words. I used ‘alchemy’ for the prompt ‘magic’ and ‘destiny’ for the prompt ‘stars’.
