Jane Dougherty’s Poetry Challenge #35 ,including the above photo prompt, inspired this poem:
∞
Polished pebbles glimmer by the shore,
Sparkling wet sand reflects the sun,
Glistening gems I yearn to store,
Fill my emptiness before day is done.
.
Sparkling wet sand reflects the sun,
Brown yellow red, russet and crystal,
Fill my emptiness before day is done,
Aching for beauty true and simple.
.
Brown yellow red, russet and crystal,
Veins of quartz, obsidian and slate,
Aching for beauty true and simple,
I look down and step with measured gait.
.
Veins of quartz, obsidian and slate,
Under a clear blue sky on summer’s day,
I look down and step with measured gait,
Wondrous moments that soon will fray.
.
Under a clear blue sky on summer’s day,
Polished pebbles glimmer by the shore,
Wondrous moments that soon will fray,
Glistening gems I yearn to store.
