Bedside plea

Soul

Breathe, hold onto life,

Don’t drift into the dark night,

You’re my flame, my light.

As I pondered on the Secretkeeper’s prompt words: Drift, Breathe, Light, Hold, and Life, this haiku emerged. I also thought of one of my favourite poems by Dylan Thomas, Do not go gentle into that good night:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light…
