What determines a life path? I was prompted to touch on this topic by Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Challenge #92. This week, we are invited to use ‘life’ and ‘path’, or their synonyms, in our haiku. Here is what I came up with:
∼
Womb to grave
charted by will, luck, or fate?
A life mystery
∼
Rain showers
winds may blow, rain must fall–
My life meanders.

Great haiku Janice. A mystery indeed. A like the sound of a meandering life.

Intriguing haiku about the mystery of life, Janice. My opinion is that all three factors intertwine in a mysterious dance and at different moments in our life journey, one can eclipse the other.
“It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.” (Winston Churchill) I found this quote that might help my thought. At birth the first link in the chain of life is created… Will and luck (opportunity) can alter a “link” and thusly destiny changes direction. I like to get philosophical at times. Ha ha!

I tend to agree about intertwining factors ..chance (fortuitous or not), effort and perhaps a karmic form of destiny..I like the Winston Churchill quote though my idea of destiny may not be his.

Very deep haiku, lots to take on here Janice, the older I get the more I believe in karma and pre destiny, just my thoughts.

Loved both haiku. The first one asks an interesting question. Food for thought.
