Dream world

Wrapped in a dream world hypnotized
Unaware of reality,
Basic sustenance sanitized.
Wrapped in a dream world hypnotized
Countless creatures traumatized,
Labour toils in anonymity
Wrapped in a dream world hypnotized
Unaware of reality.

Response to Jane Dougherty Poetry Challenge #16: Triolet.  For information about the form, please follow the link to Jane Dougherty’s challenge post.  The artwork, “Dream, dream….,”  created by Belarusian  artist, Marta Shmatava, in 2010, was kindly offered by Jane as part of the challenge prompt.  As you may note, my poem doesn’t interpret the art but uses it as a source of inspiration.

    1. It’s hard not to. The way western society is set up with distant hidden production of food, clothing, and consumer goods, we have little understanding of the stories behind our ‘comfort’.
