This week, Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News invited us to post photos that show ‘something that looks isolated and all on own its own’. I thought of a boarded farmhouse that I often pass on the way to town. I took two photos, one from behind a tree, and the other with a clearer view. I think the slightly concealed view adds to the feeling of loneliness and isolation. What do you think? I found a poem called ‘Abandoned Farmhouse‘ which I quote and link after the photos.
Something went wrong, says the empty housein the weed-choked yard. Stones in the fieldssay he was not a farmer; the still-sealed jarsin the cellar say she left in a nervous haste.
